What guarantees do I have?

The Mammotest is performed in the mammographic centers that are recognized by the Brussels Region.

In these recognized centers, you have the following guarantees: 

- you will receive an appointment for your Mammotest within a maximum period of 3 weeks;
- the radiological images of your breasts are examined by 2 radiologists. If their opinions differ, a third radiologist is consulted;
- the result of the Mammotest will be sent to your doctor no later than 3 weeks after the test is performed via electronic means and by mail.
If your Mammotest is positive, your doctor will be informed in three different ways (by phone, by electronical mail and by post). You will personally receive a letter. You will also find your result on www.mijngezondheid.be. 

Furthermore, the Mammotest is subject to quality requirements:

- every 6 months, an expert in radiation physics tests the equipment of the Recognized Centers to check if its operation complies with European recommendations;
- the technical quality of the images is periodically checked by the radiologists of BRUPREV;
- the work of BRUPREV is evaluated by the Observatory for Health and Welfare of Brussels-Capital.
