Procedure Agreement

This procedure refers to the Decision of the United College of the Common Community Commission of May 14, 2009 and to the Ministerial Decision of September 3, 2007.

The application for recognition as a mammographic unit must be submitted to BRUPREV and must include the following documents:

1. Identification dossier of  the mammographic unit.

2. The “type approval” (or “type test”). A “type approval” issued by the Flemish Community, the French Community or the Common Community Commission is considered equivalent. Here you will find a list of the models that have already obtained a type approval. If your mammograph is not included in this list, you can contact BRUPREV for more information about the procedure to be followed. The type approval is obtained at the your expenses.

3. A report of the specific “acceptance test” that your equipment passed, composed and signed by an expert authorized to do so by the Ministers responsible for health policy of the United College. The costs of the acceptance test is at the expenses of the mammographic unit.

4. A declaration that your mammograph is subjected to a conformity check every six months and annually regarding compliance with the physicochemical standards and that you commit to providing BRUPREV with a copy of the conformity certificate issued during these checks. These conformity checks must be carried out by one of the authorized experts mentioned in point 3.

5. A declaration that the responsible person of the Center has sufficient experience with reading mammograms on a digital console (at least 100 protocols) and that the radiologists of the Center have completed a minimum of eight hours of test readings under the supervision of the responsible person of the Center of BRUPREV.

6. A certificate regarding compliance with the medical-radiological quality standards (evaluation test of positioning and phototechnical quality, organized by BRUPREV).

7. The signed declaration regarding compliance with European standards and the application of the third-party payer principle.

8. The signed cooperation agreement with BRUPREV and the signed specific addendum for the centers equipped with digital technology.
